Melting and Alloying

In the beginning of all products, materials must be alloyed or melt. Heraeus produces more than 1.200 different alloys by melting processes. For that purpose, all common methods like induction melting (open, with inert gas or vacuum), electron beam melting (at present Heraeus possesses the biggest unit in Europe), arc melting and continious casting are used by Heraeus as melting processes.
Depending on their further processing (for instance round or flat material) and worthiness, metals are melt into different ingot forms and sizes .
